The Quiet Power of Prayer

The Quiet Power of Prayer

Scripture Reading

Matthew 6:6 — “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”

Reflection

Prayer is not a performance for an audience. Jesus points us to a quiet room and a shut door, where the only one watching is the Father who already loves us. That removes the pressure to sound impressive or to have the perfect words. It also removes the excuse that we are too ordinary to pray. If you have been waiting for a more spiritual moment, take this one. Say it plainly. Tell God the truth about your day, your fear, your hope. He is not impressed by eloquence; He listens for honesty, and He answers in His perfect time.
